we know - the dreaded term. rules. nobody wants to read them; no one wants to sit through fifty of them and hear the same things they've heard for years get thrown at them again. however (despite what the title says), rules are important - vital even - to keeping a site running smoothly. and don't worry: they're not long. so bear with us for a second, and read through these. they really are important, after all. first, when you register, you can register with whatever you want. i suggest making it relevant to your character's name in some way so it's easier to remember. however, once you're registered, you must change your character's display name to their FIRST MIDDLE LAST names in all capital letters. it is not the job of the admin to do this, and your character will not be accepted until this is done. second, let's just get the typical rules out of the way. no pp, gm, and all of that nasty stuff. also, respect is a key issue among members. respect your other members, respect your admin, and respect other writing styles, and you'll come to find that you will get respect in return. it's an elementary concept, but that's what this rule is all about - remember your primary rules, and you'll do fine. third, there is no word count here. however, we do not encourage that you have one paragraph replies. we believe in quality over quantity here at AHTHS, but if you're only able to channel out posts with 200 words or less...well we find it hard to find good, quality posts with such a low word count. we don't want to set limits on your creativity or give you something like a limit to reach, but please just give us something quality. and when you're roleplaying with someone, please try to match their post length. we understand writer's block and everything, but if someone is consistently giving you 900 word replies and you're giving them 300 over and over? it's not fair to them. so we have no word count, but please try for quality. fourth, claim your claims! it seems like it's silly to have this as a rule but believe it or not, people always forget. so i'm here to say it. after you've been accepted, claim your FACE and your ELECTRONICS and update your WHO'S WHO claim. fifth, if you're going to be away for more than a couple of days, please post in the 'away messages' board. that's just common sense. sixth, be active! if you're going to join us just to quit a day or two later, it's a waste of a good app and of everyone's time. we're a family here, and we love for new members to join us. and it's painful for them to leave. so if you're joining now, make sure you're joining because you really want to be here. it's all we ask. and last, but certainly not least, the golden rule - as admin, i do reserve the right to refuse anybody. please don't take it personally. but as admin, i have the right to refuse, accept, and ask you to change things. please don't fight me. i do not use this rule often - in fact, the only time i've ever used it is to ask people to shrink their graphics. but if i ask you to change something, please just be courteous and do so. i am not your enemy. i promise. see, now that wasn't so bad, now was it? if all just abide by these simple words, then things will run smoothly, and we'll all be able to roleplay happily. any further questions can be taken up in the questions board OR in the cbox: there's usually a helpful member around to answer them anyway, even if they're just lurking. thanks for reading! - renee |
