i don't know about you, but i am sick and tired of seeing all of the shia lebeouf and megan fox/various other hollywood "hotties" couples when something as beautiful as the shia lebeouf/carey mulligan relationship once existed for more than a year. needless to say, i will go down with this ship.
now for this plot, it's again with the conflicting personalities. peyton is someone who is very dedicated to her work, to her schooling, and to succeeding in life. born and abandoned by her real parents, she has felt from the moment she found out her moms adopted her that she has something to prove to the world and she will not stop until she is known worldwide for her beautiful photographs and art. she has big dreams and to her? that means no distractions - no nonsense.
shia, however, is different. he's had most everything handed to him on a silver platter - scholarship to school included. he dreams rather small, planning on taking over his father's business and living large forever. he parties, he's carefree, and he has always, always, always gotten what he wanted. until peyton comes along. she does family portraits and shia's father is always trying to document every silly moment in their life via a photograph. they end up hiring peyton since her pictures have gained some renown and behind the scenes, shia tries pulling out moves on her....just to be rejected. sharply.
needless to say, he takes this as a personal challenge and does whatever he can to woo her. and what started out as just a stupid personal challenge eventually results in him getting feelings for her. his attempts become genuine and when peyton realizes this, she gives in to what she's been resisting (after all, it's hard to resist him and it's been taking up all her willpower. it's a relief to give in). they end up becoming a rather cute couple that compliment each other well, as he can get her to let go and she tries to make him dream - something he's never had to do before.
however, they run into some problems later on. first of all, peyton is almost always busy and while she spends basically all of her spare time with him, he doesn't feel that it's enough. second, shia is a bit of a partier. peyton is not. her insecurities come back to bite her and she starts to get jealous of the people who see him when she can't. and third, shia has never had to wait to sleep with a woman before; peyton's never had the urge. except for now. but with all the conflict in their relationship, she doesn't know if it's worth it, even though he's the only man in her life she's ever wanted to sleep with.
compromises will have to be made, fights will occur, but in the end, they'll come out stronger because of it. i just think it's a cute story when a less-than-average introvert ends up with the stud. call me a hopeless romantic, i don't care. i think they'd complement each other well.
